Thuy Le

More than 400 applicants qualified for the prestigious University of Mississippi Lyceum Scholarships this year. Only 15 were chosen nationwide. Three of those are from MGCCC. They are Rachael Nelson and Amanda Hunt, from the Jackson County Campus, and Thuy Phuong Thi Le (Tracey), from the Jefferson Davis Campus.

Rachael Nelson

Nelson received the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship, was a Gold Scholar in the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team, was named to the First Team All Mississippi Academic Team and was the Dowell Leadership Scholar for Phi Theta Kappa. She won the Citizenship Award at MGCCC in 2015, was the HEADWAE student of the year, was named to the MGCCC Hall of Fame 2014-2015, was an MGCCC STEM Scholar, and was chosen for the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Hunt was co-president of the Reflections team, a freshman and sophomore Class Favorite, was in the MGCCC Hall of Fame, and on the Homecoming Court. She was also the Bulldog Day chairman for the Jackson County Campus. She received the Ole Miss Chancellors Leadership Scholarship, a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship and Community College Excellence Scholarship from Ole Miss.

Amanda Marie Hunt

Le is also a Mississippi INBRE Scholar 2015, Phi Theta Kappa Scholar and MGCCC STEM Scholar, and was awarded the Ole Miss Academic Excellence Scholarship, Ole Miss Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship, Student Body President Scholarship and Honors College Scholarship. She is in Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, the MGCCC Hall of Fame and was chosen Miss Jefferson Davis Campus.
