MGCCC Soccer teams on the brink in 2007
Once again, both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College made strong post-season runs in 2007. The Men’s squad went 15-3-0 and won the MACJC South Division with an 11-1 record. The men ranked No. 1 in offense and defense in 2007, with David Smith, Gustavo Clavijo, Ladie Yusef, and Aaron Suddeth earning spots on the MACJC All-State Team. Smith, Clavijo, and Yusef also garnered All-Region 23 honors. Brennan Adam, Patrick Grafton, Geoff Jakins, and Aaron Suddeth made the All-Region 23 Second Team. The Bulldogs lost to Hinds 2-1 in the MACJC State Title game.
The Lady Bulldogs were also impressive, going 14-5-1 and earning second place in the MACJC South Division with a 10-1-1 record. The state’s No. 1 ranked defense was led by All-State honorees Kristy Knapp, Bailee Hayes, and Charla Reese. Leah Vasquez, Amanda Hollis, Tina Anthony, and Miranda Smith were All-State Second team selections. Hayes also earned All-Region 23 First Team honors, with Kari Wieck and Kristy Kanpp picking up Region 23 Second Team recognition. In 2007, the Lady Bulldogs played in the MACJC State and Region 23 Title games.
Both teams are coached bay Barry Thrash and assistant coach Travis Dickey.

has 28 recruits for the 2007 season. These high school seniors
have all signed letters of intent to play for head coach Bary Thrash
and assistant coach Travis Dickey.
