College
wins state-wide PR awards
The college’s Institutional Relations department
won six state-wide awards at the College Public Relations Association
of Mississippi conference in Natchez on May 26. The department’s
public relations and marketing work competed against the other 14
community and junior colleges in the state.
The department won first-place awards in two categories: Public
Relations Campaign for "Picture This..." and in Creative
Partnerships for the college's volunteer work with the United Way
of Jackson and George Counties in 2003. This is the second time
the “Picture This...” campaign has been honored this
year. In March, the campaign received a Paragon Award from the National
Council for Marketing and Public Relations.
The department won several second-place awards for feature writing,
web site design and photography. The two-day conference also included
seminars on the changing world of digital photography, website marketing
and improving the work-place environment.
