Manis, Courtney, Smith earn 2007 IOY honors

Making a difference in people’s lives is what the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 2007 Instructor of the Year winners do every day. Steve Manis, Lisa Courtney, and Karla Smith are the 2007 winners of the award, which is given annually to instructors from the three main Gulf Coast campuses Nominations are submitted by students, faculty, administrators or college organizations.

Lott visits with President Bush during Gulf Coast trip

Dr. Willis Lott, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College president, was one of nine South Mississippi leaders to visit with President George W. Bush during the commander-in-chief’s 14th visit to the Gulf Coast since Hurricane Katrina. Bush spoke with Lott and others at Biloxi’s City Hall on March 1.

Gov. Haley Barbour to speak at MGCCC graduation

Governor Haley Barbour will be the commencement speaker at graduation ceremonies for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on May 10. The event is set for 2 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Miss.
