Thompson-Stacy
honored with leadership award
Dr.
Cheryl Thompson-Stacy, vice president for Academic Instruction and
Student Affairs, has received the Exemplary Leadership Award for
her work over the last six years at the college. The prestigious
Chair Academy recognized Thompson-Stacey at its 13th annual international
conference in Reston, VA. This award is given to community college
leaders who have shown best practices in modeling commitment, honesty,
acceptance and open communication to advance academics.
Thompson-Stacy was nominated by Faye Jones, who wrote, “She
is the catalyst in creating the world-class programs at our college.
Because of her, our college has moved to a higher level in the field
of technology. Cheryl has also developed workshops that outline
methods and techniques ‘to grow great leaders’ within
the college.”
Local institutions of higher learning have also taken notice of
Thompson-Stacy’s accomplishments. She will be the keynote
commencement speaker at William Carey’s graduation ceremony
this spring.
