Enrollment plummets after hurricane

Arkansas colleges step in to help MGCCC Katrina victims

Community colleges from throughout the nation continue to band together to help Gulf Coast employees and their families in the hurricane-recovery period. The most recent act of generosity comes from the Arkansas Community College System, which has organized the adoption of employees’ families by the state’s 22 community colleges.

The adoption of each family will be based on need, from income level to the amount of loss, says Dr. Hal Higdon, vice president for Administration at Gulf Coast

In addition, Dr. Vic Spalding, vice chancellor of Arkansas State University at Mt. Home, has informed the Administration office that a truck load of household items for Coast employees will be heading to South Mississippi next week.  The shipment will include towels, bed linens, cleaning supplies and more.
