Local Educator Selected to Attend Prestigious Institute

Hal Higdon, vice president of Administration at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, has been selected as one of only 38 community college leaders to attend the prestigious Executive Leadership Institute. A national panel selected the participants from a pool of approximately 100 applicants holding senior-level positions of leadership in community colleges.

Faculty members include community college chief executive officers, experts in leadership development, trustees of community colleges, presidential search consultants and other prominent figures – including members of the League for Innovation Board of Directors.

P. Anthony Zeiss, Board President of the League for Innovation said, “The review panel was extremely impressed with the quality of the applicants, which speaks well for the future vitality of the community college.

The purpose of the institute, to be held in Tempe, AZ, Dec. 5-10, 2004, is to provide an opportunity for potential community college presidents or those in transition to review their abilities and interests, to refine their skills and to participate in discussions on leadership with outstanding community college leaders in North America. The institute is sponsored by the League for Innovation in the Community College in cooperation with The University of Texas at Austin and the American Association of Community Colleges.
