College welcomes new employees

Over the last academic year, 87 new full-time employees were hired by the college. The group was brought together on Aug. 13 for New Employee Orientation at the Perkinston Campus. Dr. Hal Higdon, vice president of Administration, says this year’s group is a great example of the college’s diversity.

“Our new employees represent almost every age group, race and gender. They also show the wide variety of jobs at the college. This is probably my favorite day of the school year because these employees are truly excited to be here and to learn about the college,” Higdon said.

The day long event covers several important topics including customer service, FERPA and employee benefits. Dr. Willis Lott, Gulf Coast president, also talked to the group for 30 minutes about the college’s goals.

We pulled several new Bulldog employees aside, to get their thoughts about working at Gulf Coast.

“I’ve been with the college since Jan. 2004. It’s the best place I’ve ever worked because of the people. I know I’m making a positive difference every day.”

Anita Johns

“I’ve been with the college since June 2004. This is a dream come true for me. My family was a Keesler Family, so it’s a homecoming for me. I was in New Orleans and knew I wanted to get back to Biloxi.”
