JD Campus gym opens to displaced employees at Harrison County locations
The Jefferson Davis Campus has opened its gym doors to employees and their families who either lost homes, have severely-damaged homes or who simply cannot commute to work. Able to accommodate 38 people, this shelter is strictly for JD Campus, West Harrison County Center, Keesler Center and CB Base centers employees. It is not a public shelter, and no pets are allowed.

Kids Camp eases childcare concerns for JC employees, students
With clean up, damage assessment and FEMA claims dominating the minds of South Mississippians, child care was not priority on everyone’s to-do list after Hurricane Katrina swept the area. But now with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College employees reporting back to work and students going back to class, parents are left pondering where to leave their kids while the local schools are being repaired.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College thanks its sister institutions of higher education for their thoughtfulness and resourcefulness as South Mississippi recovers from Hurricane Katrina. They have donated money to help students and employees recover; personal time; culinary skills; clothes; food items; free teaching services; placement of displaced students; and more. Some have even “shared” financial aid personnel to assist our financial aid offices during an extremely busy time for the college.
