Workforce Development Services offers many opportunities to develop employees. These opportunities are customized, job specific and designed to address an organization's goals and objectives. Our top priority is to make the training timely and relevant.

Services offered to industry include many types of training. Pre-employment training can provide a company the screening necessary to find employees who are work-oriented, knowledgeable and skilled. It also allows employees the opportunity to appraise the company and train for immediate placement in a new job.

Upgrade training expands an employee's knowledge for the company and job. Increasing computer skills, safety training, basic skills or specialized training can create a new level of energy for a company and develops the skills needed to better contribute towards organizational objectives.

Employees can be moved into new positions or prepared for advancement with retraining efforts. This allows people to find new areas to use their experience and expertise.

Computer Applications in the Work Place
The use of technology in the work place continues to change and become more complex. To maximize the use of technology through employee knowledge and training, Gulf Coast offers training on the latest computer applications:

Gulf Coast can assist with computer application needs, whether it's commercial or customized computer software. Classes may be held on site or at a Gulf Coast location.


Adult Education and GED Preparation
Adult Basic Education services enable adults to acquire new knowledge and update basic skills throughout their lives. Classes feature individualized instruction and are located in industries, public libraries, college campuses, schools, fire departments, and community centers throughout Harrison, Jackson, George and Stone counties.

Programs

Customer Service and Hospitality Training
MGCCC workforce personnel can provides Customer Service training designed to improve internal and external customer service at all levels of your organization.  Enhanced customer satisfaction will help your company stand out from its competitors.  Training can be customized to meet your company or industry's specific needs.  Hospitality Awareness Training Seminar (H.A.T.S.), a joint training effort of the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Harrison County Tourist Commission and the hospitality industry, is an opportunity for front-line employees of the hospitality industry to better understand the industry and recognize their key role in that industry.  Each contact between a customer and an employee leaves an impression about your company; training can help improve the experiences these customers have.

This program develops interview-ready applicants for the job market. Individuals gain employability skills, increased calls for job interviews and consideration for jobs. Employers have more qualified job applicants to interview, as well as an improved method for assessing and evaluating applicants.

College Programs

Academic University Parallel Programs
Academic course offerings at Gulf Coast allow students an opportunity to complete one-half of the requirements needed for a four-year degree program. On their way to a four-year degree, students can earn an Associate of Arts degree at Gulf Coast.

Technical Programs
Two years of specialized technical training in a chosen occupation will allow students to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in a number of technical programs, leading to careers in such areas as drafting and design, computer repair, golf/recreational turf management, child development and microcomputers.

Career Programs
Workforce specific skills are taught hands-on style in a variety of trade programs, such as Aquaculture, Commercial Truck Driving, Welding, and Heating and Air Conditioning. Students completing these programs will receive a diploma. Academic course work may be added to earn the Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Education.

Adult Education
The Adult and Continuing Education program enables Gulf Coast to extend its resources to the community and has four types of course/program offerings:
