| GED Testing Information
The General Education Development (GED) test may be administered to
those persons who desire to earn a high school equivalency diploma if
they were unable to complete their high school education. In accordance
with the policies set forth by the State Board for Community and Junior
Colleges, in order to take the GED test through Mississippi Gulf Coast
Community College you must meet the following requirements:
Age 18:
- Download and print the GED
Application (PDF download) and sign
it in front of a Notary Public.
- Have the last K-12 school you attended complete the Out-of-School
Verification form (PDF download)
that shows you have withdrawn from school or attach a copy of your withdrawal
form.
- Contact one of the individuals listed below to schedule a GED Test
Orientation Session.
- Bring the Completed GED
Application, Out-of-School
Verification form or withdrawal, a valid government
issued photo ID, and a Social Security card to the Orientation
Session and be prepared to pay for the GED Test at that time.
Age 19 or older:
- Download and print the GED
Application (PDF download) and sign
it in front of a Notary Public.
- Contact one of the individuals listed below to schedule a GED Test
Orientation Session.
- Bring the Completed GED Application form, a valid government
issued photo ID, and a Social Security card to the Orientation
Session and be prepared to pay for the GED Test at that time.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The GED Test consists of language arts; writing; mathematics; reading;
science and social studies. The cost for the initial test is $40.
Should you not pass a section or sections of the test, you may retake
that section or sections at a cost of $12 each. You may take the
same section of the test only three times during a calendar year.
Once you have completed the test and would like to request any
additional copies of your GED Transcript, complete the GED
transcript request (PDF download) form
and follow the instructions for mailing.

Everyone must attend an Orientation Session. You
may find out when the next test is being offered and schedule an
Orientation Session by contacting one of the following campuses:

GED TEST ORIENTATION POLICY
- Notarized GED Test application form.
- Current picture identification card: Mississippi driver's license,
identification card issued by Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol,
military identification card, or passport issued by the United
States government.
- Receipt for testing fees.
- If 18 or under: Withdrawal form from the last school attended
or completed MGCCC Out-of-School Verification form that contains
the name of the last school attended or the School Attendance
Officer. (Home-schooled candidates must provide a MGCCC Out-of-School
Verification form signed by their School Attendance Officer indicating
that they have been enrolled in home school classes for a minimum
of two years.)
