The George County Alumni Chapter for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will hold a membership roundup on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m., prior to George County High School’s first football game. Alumni and friends, who support the college and local students through annual college scholarships, will meet in the high-school stadium parking lot.
Paula Hinton, a member of the George County Alumni Chapter, said they will have blue and gold tents set up in the stadium parking lot for the membership drive. “We will be giving away free hats and T-shirts to new members who join. We also want to provide a place for people to donate to the scholarship fund for local students to attend Gulf Coast. Through increased membership and fund raising, we hope to give our county the same kind of facilities at the George County Center as those available in other counties. We encourage all George County residents who have attended Gulf Coast to join the alumni chapter.”
