The Jefferson Davis Campus hosts Legacy Luncheon

The Jefferson Davis Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College held a Legacy Luncheon on Tuesday, October 20, honoring alumni, former and current college personnel, and community leaders. More than 150 people attended the luncheon, held in the Hospitality and Resort Management Center on the campus.

“The Legends Luncheon is one of the ways we are celebrating the 50-year anniversary for our campus,” said Dr. Jonathan Woodward, vice president of the Jefferson Davis Campus.  “We felt the college’s Homecoming Week was a perfect time to honor the contributions made by individuals–employees, alumni and community members–throughout the campus’ history. The current success of MGCCC is a direct result of the excellence exhibited by the leaders and stakeholders that served the college over the last 50 years.”

Janie Walters, a former college employee and an inspirational speaker, was the guest speaker at the Legacy Luncheon on the Jefferson Davis Campus on Tuesday. More than 150 people attended the event, which honored former and current college employees, alumni, and community leaders for their contributions to the campus over the past 50 years.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is celebrating the 50-year anniversary of its Jackson County and Jefferson Davis campuses this year through special functions held each month. The first functions held on each campus were the Bulldog Tailgate parties held on September 17 at the Jefferson Davis Campus and on October 1 at the Jackson County Campus. On Thursday, October 22, the Jackson County Campus will hold its Legends Luncheon at the Jackson County Campus followed by a Dedication Ceremony for a time capsule burial at 12:30 p.m. at the campus Bell Tower.
