How to Get Started...

1. Participate in an orientation session.

Students are encouraged to attend an orientation to online learning session. Sessions are voluntary, but highly recommended for new students. Click HERE for dates, times and locations of the upcoming sessions. Note: We offer "virtual" online orientations, so you don't have to come to campus to participate.

2. Check your email.

MGCCC students are automatically provided with an official college email address and are required to use it for all eLearning classes (online, hybrid and web-enhanced). Click Here for instructions on getting into your email account.

3. Check your MSVCC Student Profile to verify enrollment in online courses.

Courses may be offered in Desire2Learn and/or Blackboard. Your student profile will indicate the platform for each course. Along with the platform, the student profile lists instructor contact information, textbook information, and other course information. Note: All MGCCC Students are issued a Student ID called GCID. If you do not know your GCID, go to Web Services and follow the instructions to retrieve it. THE LAST FOUR NUMBERS OF YOUR GCID ARE REQUIRED FOR ACCESSING YOUR MSVCC STUDENT PROFILE.

4. Complete the Smarter Measure Learning Readiness Indicator

Smarter Measure is an assessment tool that is used to determine a student's readiness for online course work. The survey asks questions on topics in the areas of computer use; self-motivation, organization skills, and learning preferences. In addition, your typing and on-screen reading speed and comprehension will be measured.

5. Login to Courses

Retrieve the login instructions prior to the start of the class. Once you know your username and password, click the Login to Courses link to enter your courses on the first day of class. Attendance in online classes is determined by the date students access their online course site. Students who attend (log into) an online class are not eligible for a 100% refund.
