Instructors who teach multiple sections of the SAME course and would like their students combined into one (or more) course shell(s), may request that their courses be combined. Once combined, students will automatically be grouped by course section, so students may be sorted in the dropbox, grades and classlist by section.
Example: An instructor teaches 3 sections of ENG 1113 on MWF and 2 sections on TTH. It would be more efficient for the instructor to have the MWF sections loaded into one shell and the TTH sections loaded into a separate shell. This allows the instructor to update two shells rather than five. This instructor would list all CRNs for MWF sections in the Combination A boxes. The instructor would list all the CRNs for TTH sections in the Combination B boxes.
Instructors can choose to make combinations in any fashion they desire. Instructors will indicate how they would like their courses combined on the Combination Form which is located inside of Desire2Learn. If no combinations are indicated, all courses will have their own individual shells. To complete the Combination Form, instructors will need the current term CRNs for courses that should be combined.
Instructors should wait until schedules are finalized (preferrably after late registration) before submitting this request.
*Like sections of online courses taught by the same instructor will automatically be combined.
**Combining course shells is also referred to as "Mapping."
***The Combination Form will need to be completed each semester to indicate which CRNs should be combined.
