Loaves And Fishes 25th Anniversary

MGCCC helps with Loaves and Fishes 25th anniversary

Biloxi’s Loaves and Fishes, an official institute on the Coast that serves the homeless, will hold an open house celebrating its 25th Anniversary of service Friday June 27, from 1:30 p.m. -3:00 p.m. at its 260 Main St. location in Biloxi.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jefferson Davis Campus organizations Student Humanitarians for Advancement and Change (SHAC) and Phi Theta Kappa will take part in the event.

In the past, Loaves and Fishes has also benefitted from Gulf Coast students volunteering their time and efforts. On Oct. 27, 2007, college students and faculty participated in the USA Weekend’s Oct. 27 Make a Difference Day, the largest national day of helping others. During that month, the group held a chili cook-off, which benefitted Loaves and Fishes. They also collected blankets, T-shirts, socks, toiletries, insect repellent, sunscreen, antibacterial wipes/gel (small for portability), gloves and knit stocking caps for Biloxi’s Loaves and Fishes and Back Bay Mission, the only two official agencies on the Coast serving the homeless.
