Financial Aid at MGCCC

Welcome to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College! We are delighted that you have chosen MGCCC for your education and realize you may need financial assistance in achieving your educational goals.

With more than 70% of our students receiving some form of financial assistance, MGCCC works to make college available and affordable through a number of programs.

MGCCC administers federal, state, institutional and outside financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships, work programs, and loans. Some aid programs require that you demonstrate financial need.

Estimating College Costs

When choosing a college and financial aid program, it’s important to understand the entire “cost of attendance” including tuition and fees, books and supplies, living expenses and other essentials.

  • Grants

    Apply for government grants to help finance your education! Learn about Federal grant opportunities as well as several grants offered by the state of Mississippi.

  • Work Study

    MGCCC’s Federal Work-Study Program provides on-campus jobs for students demonstrating financial need. Eligibility is based on financial need, other aid awarded and availability of funds. Students are employed part-time, earn minimum wage, and are paid monthly.

  • Student Loans

    Learn the types of low-interest student loans available from the federal government. View loan limits, interest rates, and procedures to follow during school and after your graduate.

  • Tuition Waivers

    Mississippi Gulf Coast offers tuition waivers for full-time employees, retirees, and their spouses and dependents. We also offer tuition waivers for senior citizens.

  • Professional Judgment

    Professional Judgment refers to the school’s authority to make adjustments, on a case- by-case basis, to information reported on the FAFSA so that the Department of Education can recalculate the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).The purpose of Professional Judgment is to determine an EFC that reflects a family’s current financial situation.

    Federal regulations require that all students make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in a program of study to maintain eligibility for financial aid. MGCCC has established minimum SAP standards that recipients must make toward completion of a diploma or degree program.
