“Guardian Angel” by Girolamo Imperiale (1622) is one of the prints on exhibit at MGCCC Jackson County Campus Fine Arts Gallery through December 12.

The Fine Arts Gallery at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus will present “Italian Prints from the Mississippi Museum of Art” exhibition through December 12.  This exhibition of more than 20 prints spans 400 years and includes works by Italian-born artists and by artists visiting Italy.

The exhibition is part of MMA’s extensive permanent collection and includes works from the 16th through 20th centuries by artists Martino Rota, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Canaletto, Simone Cantarini, Orazio Farinati and Girolamo Imperiale. They focus on a variety of subjects, including angels, religion, architecture and nature. Other works on paper are by Italian-born artist Luigi Lucioni and American artists’ works of Italian scenes. The MMA exhibition is supported with funds provided by Entergy and the museum’s statewide Traveling Exhibition Endowment that is supported through significant private contributions matched by the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Last Judgement” by Martino Rota (1576) is one of the prints on exhibit at MGCCC Jackson County Campus Fine Arts Gallery through December 12. The exhibition includes more than 20 prints that span 400 years and includes works by Italian-born artists and by artists visiting Italy.
