Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus will host a Legends Luncheon and Time Capsule Dedication Ceremony on Tuesday, October 22. The event is part of the college’s 2015 Homecoming festivities and celebrates the 50-year anniversary of the Jackson County Campus. Classes began at the campus on September 7, 1965.

More than 150 people are expected to attend the luncheon, which will be held in the campus cafeteria, for community leaders, campus retirees, college leadership and others.

At 12:30 p.m., the dedication ceremony for the time capsule will begin.  Current employees and students will pack the time capsule with memorabilia of the Jackson County Campus, including photographs, student writings and a yearbook, before it is buried at the campus clock tower. The time capsule is scheduled to be re-opened on October 22, 2065.

The dedication ceremony is free and open to the public. For more information about the event, contact Maylen McClenic at 228.497.7631 or maylen.mcclenic@mgccc.edu.
