G.I. Jobs magazine has ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College a 2015 Military Friendly School. This is the sixth time MGCCC has earned the recognition.

The 2015 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.

“Our veteran services initiative promotes the academic, professional, and personal development and success of student veterans through support services and campus resources that include mentoring and building camaraderie,” said Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC president.

Among its newest military-friendly initiatives, MGCCC provides a student-veteran services program to build a sense of community among veterans and help the college understand and serve their needs. The Veterans Resource Centers, which will soon be located on each MGCCC campus, will foster networking among student veterans and offer a variety of support services at a convenient location.

G.I. Jobs surveys student veterans and uses the feedback to provide prospective military students with insight into the student-veteran experience at a particular institution based on peer reviews from current students.

Schools on this year’s list prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience. The full list of Military Friendly Schools is highlighted in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools.
