A Great Workplace Creates a Great College

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College was named a 2016 Great Colleges to Work For by the Chronicle of Higher Education in a special report released today. MGCCC was also recognized for being on the Honor Roll list. Colleges on the honor roll list are the best of the best and are cited most often across all recognition categories, and grouped by enrollment size. Ten four-year colleges, and four two-year colleges, make the cut in each size, with MGCCC being listed in the medium category for colleges with 3,000 to 9,999 students.

How the Survey Works

This year The Chronicle’s Great Colleges to Work For survey is based on responses from more than 46,000 people at 281 institutions: 189 four-year colleges and universities (109 private and 80 public), and 92 two-year colleges. Only 93 of the 281 colleges and universities that applied for the program achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition: 68 four-year institutions and 25 two-year institutions.

Empowering Employees

“As part of our commitment to both employees and students, MGCCC strives to create an institutional culture that fosters diversity, provides outstanding learning opportunities, promotes healthy lifestyles and encourages communication among all college employees,” said Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC President. “The college has found that fostering open lines of interactive communication leads to empowered employees who embrace our commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of our students, communities and state. We are grateful for our outstanding employees, and we are dedicated to continue making MGCCC a great place to work and learn.”

The institutions named on the 2016 Great Colleges to Work For roster are selected based on the results of a survey of nearly 44,000 college and university employees by Modern Think. The survey rates institutions on 12 categories in the fields of leadership, careers, the workplace and compensation.

MGCCC’s Top-rated Categories
