Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has offered scholarship funds to 1,268 students in the college’s four-county district. These annual scholarships range from academic scholarships to performance-based scholarships.

“This time of year is always exciting for our recruitment team because we see the tremendous impact Gulf Coast makes on individual students in our district,” said Mollie W. Barger, coordinator of Recruitment & Student Engagement. Barger said members of the MGCCC Recruitment Department and campus representatives give the scholarship awards to qualifying seniors during their district awards ceremonies.

Academic scholarships for students that have submitted a 21 or higher ACT score to the college comprise the largest percentage of scholarships awarded.

“The mission of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is to provide a valuable product, a word-class education, at an accessible cost for the citizens in our four-county district,” said MGCCC president Dr. Mary Graham. “In order to help our students achieve their educational goals, we provide thousands of institutional scholarships to off-set any financial burdens our students may face.”

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Foundation also makes a concerted effort to fundraise for scholarship dollars.  “MGCCC’s Foundation provides scholarship funds for students at all campuses and centers to help achieve academic success,” said Caroline Ramagos, vice president of Advancement and Institutional Relations. “In 2013-2014 the Foundation awarded $428,743.22 in scholarships, and this spring the Foundation raised over $200,000 at its annual scholarship gala, featuring a roast of Governor Phil Bryant.”

Gulf Coast offers students outstanding opportunities at each of its 10 locations, from its traditional campus at Perkinston featuring athletics and residence halls, to world-class career, technical and allied health programs that will have them career-ready upon graduation.
