Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College was the only community college in Mississippi to be named to the 2015 Great Colleges to Work For list by the Chronicle of Higher Education. Of the 86 colleges and universities listed from across the nation, only three were from Mississippi.

“As part of our commitment to both employees and students, MGCCC strives to create an institutional culture that promotes healthy lifestyles and encourages communication among all college employees,” said Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC president. “This past year, the college made it a priority to provide on-campus clinics for employees and their dependents because we recognized that finding affordable and accessible health care can often be challenging. The college has also found that fostering open lines of interactive communication leads to empowered employees who embrace our commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of our students, communities and state.  We are grateful for our outstanding employees, and we are dedicated to continue making MGCCC a great place to work and learn.”

The institutions named on the 2015 Great Colleges to Work For roster are selected based on the results of a survey of nearly 44,000 college and university employees by Modern Think. The survey rates institutions on 12 categories in the fields of leadership, careers, the workplace and compensation. MGCCC’s top-rated categories included facilities, workplace and security; professional/career-development programs; supervisor or department chair relationships; and work/life balance.
