Rachael Nelson, a 2015 graduate of MGCCC’s Jackson County Campus, received the The Hites Transfer Scholarship, a scholarship awarded to only 10 students nationwide. This is the first time an MGCCC student has received this award.

Nelson also received the prestigious Dowell Leadership Scholarship (which is based on achieving a top score in the statewide Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship competition), the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship, was a Gold Scholar in the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team, was named to the First Team All Mississippi Academic Team and received a University of Mississippi Lyceum Scholarship.

The Hites Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement, engagement in college and community activities, and leadership accomplishment of Phi Theta Kappa members preparing to transfer to senior institutions.
