Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Process Operations Technology and Instrumentation and Control students were invited to attend the Governor’s Energy Summit on October 8 in Jackson to raise their awareness of the influence of energy on their career choices. They were also asked to set up a display table to showcase the programs and spotlight MGCCC’s energy-related programs. The keynote speaker at the event was Texas Governor Rick Perry.

“It was an awesome experience for the students,” said Tommie Broome, Process Operations Technology instructor at MGCCC’s Jackson County Campus. “They were able to hear about the career opportunities for them and meet many of the executives in the companies they expect to work for in the future.”

The 19 MGCCC students attending the event were Miles Duarte, Mark Regan, Charles Rosentiehl, Kevin Kinchen, Kysha Blake, Austin Wellman, Tamari McNeil, Russell Simmons, Stefan Culberson, Harold Waldrip, Beverly Pinkerton, Brandon Delillo, Jeremy Matthews, Dustin van Norden, Steven Denton, Johnny Woodland, Edleshia Leverette, Willie Lee and Jonathan Garcia.
