Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Hospitality and Resort Management Center, along with the Mississippi Hospitality and Restaurant Association, is sponsoring a High School Culinary Cook-Off to be held on Friday, April 25 at 6 p.m. in the Center on the Jefferson Davis Campus. Teams include groups from St. Martin, Vancleave, Gulfport, Biloxi and Stone County high schools. Awards will be given for round winners in the Appetizer, Entrée and Dessert rounds. A trophy will be given to the grand-prize winner.

The competition is open to the public. Advance general admission tickets are $10; general admission at the door is $15. The cost for VIP Room tickets is $50 for individuals and $75 for couples, and First Row tickets are $75. Food and drink are included in the price of admission, and MGCCC Culinary Arts students will prepare the food.

The competition will be set up throughout the HRM Center, providing guests the best opportunity to be a part of the action. Each round has a time limit, with the Appetizer round lasting 45 minutes, the Entrée round lasting one hour and the Dessert round lasting 30 minutes.

Additionally, guests have the opportunity to attend cooking classes for $5 each. Classes include cupcake decorating, ice sculpting and fruit carving.
