Tenesha D. Batiste, district director of Human Resources at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the College & University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast chapter. She also served on the program committee for CUPA-HR in 2014-2015.

Batiste came to MGCCC in July 2014. Since that time, she has led a successful restructure of the District Human Resources department and continues to explore innovative and efficient technology options that allow the human resources staff to better serve employees.

Although new to higher education, Batiste has served in several leadership positions in human resources, training and organizational development for municipal government, and in the healthcare industry during the past 11 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/journalism, with an emphasis in public relations, and a Master of Business Administration degree, with a human resources management concentration. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in human capital development from The University of Southern Mississippi.
