Students at the Jefferson Davis and Jackson County campuses enjoyed participating in and watching ThinkFast, a trivia-based game show, Sept. 24-25. Two games were played on each campus as part of a student activities program, and winners from each game received a prize of $100.
The ThinkFast game is a combination of music videos, multiple-choice trivia and survey questions. The first phase of the game is audience participation. Everyone in the audience gets a controller and must answer trivia questions that appear on the screens. Those who answer correctly the fastest, win the most points. Participants with the most points are given the opportunity to advance to the next level. To keep the entire audience engaged throughout the show, the host incorporates Wild Cards, individuals who are indiscriminately selected to take control of the game from high-scoring players. There can be as many Wild Cards as possible, and in an average game, there are several players who are chosen to compete for the final winner-take-all game prize.
Winners at the JC Campus were Whitney Wilkinson and Phillip Newton. JD Campus winners were Anthony Abella and Owl Delozier.
Sonya Edwards and Candice Poulos, Student Activities coordinators at the JC and JD campuses, respectively, said more events are planned. “We have a NASCAR racing simulator coming Homecoming Week at JC and JD.” Edwards said. “We also have the TRONSystem Lasertag planned during our Octoberfest on Oct. 23.”
Poulos said they may bring the ThinkFast game back spring semester since students enjoyed it so much. “It may be something we decide to do,” she said. “The students really seemed to like it and had a lot of fun with it.”
