Seventeen homecoming maids will represent the three campuses of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Homecoming Day, Oct. 3, at the Perkinston Campus. The maids, elected by their fellow students, will be presented during halftime of the college’s homecoming football game. Each campus queen will be crowned at that time. Kickoff of the game between Gulf Coast and Copiah-Lincoln will be at 3:30 p.m. in A.L. May Memorial Stadium.

Jackson County Campus

LAUREN ELIZABETH DEARMAN, a graduate of East Central High School, is a freshman maid from Hurley. The daughter of Dewayne and Sherry Dearman, she is a member of Full Life Assembly of God and works at Regional Digestive Specialists. While in high school, she participated in the Spanish, French and science clubs, served on the Envirothon team, was in Future Farmers of America, was co-captain of the cheerleading squad, and was voted Most Valuable Player in cheerleading her sophomore year. She is currently taking prerequisites for The University of Mississippi School of Dentistry; she plans to major in dental hygiene. She will be escorted by Trey Porter.

REBECCA CHRISTINE FORSMAN, a Vancleave High School graduate, is a freshman maid from Vancleave. The daughter of Michael and Lisa Forsman, she is active in the Outdoor Recreation Leadership Club on campus and the Dance/Drama Team at Oasis Church. In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, a Mississippi Scholar and a Who’s Who winner. She is majoring in nursing. She will be escorted by Will Yates.

MELISSA MANNING, a graduate of Ocean Springs High School, is a sophomore maid from Ocean Springs. The daughter of Steve and Sandra Manning, she is in pre-nursing and plans to become a nurse anesthetist. Manning is also president of the Rotaract Club, parliamentarian of the Student Government Association, liaison for Phi Theta Kappa and is in Gulf Coast’s Honors College. She has published work in the Mississippi Academy of Sciences, and is a member of Gautier Church of Christ and an intern at Singing River Health System’s Regional Cancer Center. Manning, a lifeguard at the Jackson County Campus pool, served on the 2008 Gulf Coast homecoming court as a freshman maid. She will be escorted by her father.

CHERRIE KIMBROUGH, an honors graduate of Gautier High School, is a sophomore maid from Gautier. The daughter of Dina Kimbrough and John Fair, she plans to become a nurse practitioner specializing in pediatrics. She is a member of the 2009 Student Government Association, which she serves as sophomore class representative. During high school, she was a Mississippi Scholar. She is a member of New Era Missionary Baptist Church and a Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mississippi volunteer. She will be escorted by Jon Taylor.

KARMEL L. KEETON, a graduate of Pascagoula High School, is a sophomore maid from Pascagoula. The daughter of Teri Chaussee and William F. Keeton, she plans to major in law and sociology. She serves as vice president of service for Phi Theta Kappa, is sophomore class president on the Student Government Association and will be an Alpha Beta Gamma inductee. She is also in the Honors College at Gulf Coast and has had work published by the Mississippi Academy of Science. Keeton is a member of The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, attends “Daughters of the King” youth Bible study at New Covenant Ministries, is a Junior Achievement instructor in the Moss Point School District, is an active member of the NAACP and was a 2008 Debutante for the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary. She also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity. She will be escorted by Donald Shavers.

Jefferson Davis Campus

HEATHER MAY, a graduate of Wingfield High School, is a freshman maid from Gulfport. The daughter of Vinson and Renita Keyhea of Gulfport, May is a physical education major and plans to earn a master’s degree and coach basketball at the university level. She enjoys basketball and softball, and was a member of Mu Alfa Theta at Gulfport High School. She attends Abundant Life Evangelist church. She will be escorted by her father.

RACHEL MARIAH DEDEAUX, a graduate of Gulfport High School, is a freshman maid from Gulfport. The daughter of Yolanda Dedeaux and granddaughter of Jean Dedeaux, she is a pre-nursing major and has applied to the Associate Degree Nursing program at the Jefferson Davis Campus. She plans to continue her education at The University of Southern Mississippi, where she plans to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, and then join the United States Air Force as an officer. Dedeaux serves as class secretary for the Student Council and is a member of the Baptist Student Union. She performs volunteer work in her community, included at church events. She will be escorted by Patrick Coleman.

BINESHA MICHELLE FAIRLEY, a graduate of Gulfport High School, is a sophomore maid from Gulfport. The daughter of James and Stephanie Fairley is the granddaughter of John and Sheila Fairley of Gulfport. A nursing major, she plans to continue her education at The University of Southern Mississippi, where she plans to receive a pediatric license in the nursing field. In high school, she was an honor roll student and honors graduate. She was a member of the Gulfport High School dance team, and was a member of the NAACP, youth legislature, Key Club, and Spanish Club. She was also a homecoming maid and was voted Best Dressed. Fairley attends Grace Temple Baptist Church and is involved in praise dance. She will be escorted by her father.

HAYLEY KAVANAUGH, an honors graduate of Biloxi High School, is a sophomore maid from Biloxi. The daughter of Danny and Colleen Kavanaugh, she is a history major and plans to continue her education at Mississippi State University. She is a member of the Jefferson Davis Campus Reflections Team, serves as sophomore class vice president and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Kavanaugh has earned the Eagle of the Cross Award, and in high school, she was editor of the Indian Echo yearbook, was in the National Honor Society, served as a Student Council representative and was a member of the Diocesan Search Team. She is a member of Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral and is a junior adviser for Nativity Youth Ministry. She will be escorted by her father.

NICOLE MISITA, a high-honors graduate of St. Patrick Catholic High School, is a sophomore maid from Biloxi. The daughter of Brent and Kim Misita, she is a bio-chemistry major and plans to continue her education at The University of Southern Mississippi. After USM, she plans to attend The University of Mississippi School of Dentistry. Misita is president of the Jefferson Davis Campus Reflections Team, serves as sophomore Student Council representative, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, is captain for the Reflections Heart Walk Team, and was a speaker at the recent International Day of Peace celebration on campus. Last year, she was the executive Student Council reporter. In high school, Nicole served in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, was in entrepreneurship and advanced placement chemistry, and won the Outstanding Excellence in English award. The recipient of an ACT Incentive Scholarship and Vice President’s List Scholarship to Gulf Coast, she is involved at Our Lady of Fatima Church’s Senior Catholic Youth Organization as a junior adviser and volunteers in various community events. She will be escorted by her father.

Perkinston Campus

TONYA JOYCE HARRIS, who attended Maranatha Christian School, is a freshman maid from Saucier. The daughter of Melissa and Joe Woodring and James and Bobbie Harris, she is majoring in criminal justice and law and plans to attend The University of Southern Mississippi and major in administration of justice. She is a member of the Perkinston Campus Reflections Team, serves on the Student Government Association as the freshman vice president and is a member of the Dog Pound. During high school, she was named to Who’s Who Among High School Students. She is a member of Robinwood Baptist Church. Harris will be escorted by her brother, Matthew Harris.

DORESHA LA’SHAY SMITH, a graduate of Moss Point High School, is a freshman maid from Moss Point. The daughter of Willie and Clara Smith, she is a pre-physical therapy major and plans to attend Mississippi State University, where she will major in sports medicine. She is on the Step Team, a member of the Barn Gospel Choir, a Resident Home Association member and is a member of the Band of Blue and Gold. During high school, she was a step master for the Delta Gems and was named to the Who’s Who. She will be escorted by Maurice Felder.

SHARDAINA JALEEA HARRIS, a graduate of Maranatha Christian School, is the freshman football maid from Wiggins. The daughter of Donna Marshall and Keith Marshall, she is majoring in human services and plans to attend The University of Southern Mississippi. In high school, she was vice president of the Future Business Leaders of America, served on the Student Council, and was a member of the Drama Club and dance team. She is a member of the Perkinston Campus Student Government Association. She attends Wiggins Church of God in Christ, where she sings in the church choir. She will be escorted by her uncle, Deamond Breland.

KATIE DEVLIN DONAHOE, a graduate of Stone High School, is a sophomore maid from Perkinston. The daughter of Jeff and Brenda Donahoe, she is majoring in mass communication with a minor in theatre. She plans to attend The University of Southern Mississippi and hopes to one day become a major news anchor. She serves as Student Government Association executive president, and is a member of the Reflections Team, Interclub Council and Perkettes Dance Team. In 2008-09, she was captain of the Perkettes Dance Team and was a freshman maid on the 2008 homecoming court. During high school, she served on the Student Council, was the Stone High Color Guard captain, was chosen Most Talented and Wittiest, and was chosen as a Next Step Magazine Super Teen in 2008. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Wiggins. She will be escorted by her father.

TERRICA MARSHAY CAUSEY, a graduate of Moss Point High School, is a sophomore maid from Moss Point. The daughter of Terry and Marina Causey Sr., she is majoring in psychology and plans to attend Mississippi State University. After receiving her Master of Arts degree, she would like to return to Gulf Coast as a psychology instructor. She is a member of the Resident Hall Association, the Dog Pound, the Civitan Club, Student Government Association, the Barn Gospel Choir and the Wesley Foundation Leadership Team. She is the International Scholarship recipient to the University of Queensland in Australia and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she is a member of the choir and Youth Leadership Council. During high school, she served as class president, Beta Club president and Delta Gems vice president. She will be escorted by her father.

BRITTANY DANAE HARRIS, a graduate of Stone High School, is a sophomore maid from Wiggins. The daughter of Brian and Micholyn Ramsay, she is majoring in law and plans to attend The University of Mississippi, where she plans to earn a law degree. She is a member of the Reflections Team and is the Student Government Association’s executive treasurer. Harris was a 2008 homecoming freshman maid at Gulf Coast and during high school was chosen as Beauty and Best Dressed. She volunteers for National Forest Clean-Up Day and is a member of the Wiggins Church of God in Christ. She will be escorted by her uncle, Daniel Harris.

ASHLEY ELIZABETH WARD, a graduate of Waynesboro Academy, is the sophomore football maid. The daughter of Jim and Karen Ward, she is majoring in marketing and public relations and plans to attend Mississippi State University. She is a member of the Reflections Team, Mississippi Sound, serves as president of the Dog Pound and is the Student Government Association sophomore class president. She was a member of the 2008 National Sporting Clays Team, was the 2007 and 2009 Junior Sporting Clays champion and played Rizzo in the Perk Players production of “Grease.” She is a member of Cedar Lake United Methodist Church. She will be escorted by her father.
