2009 Homecoming Queens

MGCCC presents 2009 homecoming queens


Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College presented its 2009 homecoming queens as part of halftime ceremonies on Oct. 3 at the Perkinston Campus. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s 2009 homecoming queens were crowned on Oct. 3. during festivities at the Perkinston Campus. Each recipient was chosen by her fellow students to represent one of the college’s three campuses.

CHERRIE KIMBROUGH is the homecoming queen for the Jackson County Campus. An honors graduate at Gautier High School, she is the daughter of Dina Kimbrough and John Fair. She plans to become a nurse practitioner specializing in pediatrics. She is a member of the 2009 Student Government Association, on which she serves as sophomore class representative. During high school, she was a Mississippi Scholar. She is a member of New Era Missionary Baptist Church and a Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mississippi volunteer. She was escorted by Jon Taylor during this year’s homecoming ceremony.

BINESHA MICHELLE FAIRLEY is the homecoming queen for the Jefferson Davis Campus. A graduate of Gulfport High School, she is the daughter of James and Stephanie Fairley and the granddaughter of John and Sheila Fairley of Gulfport. A nursing major, she plans to continue her education at The University of Southern Mississippi, where she plans to receive a pediatric license in the nursing field. In high school, she was an honor roll student and honors graduate. She was a member of the Gulfport High School dance team, as well as the NAACP, youth legislature, Key Club and Spanish Club. She was also a homecoming maid and was voted Best Dressed. Fairley attends Grace Temple Baptist Church and is involved in praise dance. She was escorted by her father during this year’s homecoming ceremony.

TERRICA MARSHAY CAUSEY is homecoming queen for the Perkinston Campus. A graduate of Moss Point High School, she is the daughter of Terry and Marina Causey Sr. She is majoring in psychology and plans to attend Mississippi State University. After receiving her Master of Arts degree, she would like to return to Gulf Coast as a psychology instructor. She is a member of the Resident Hall Association, Dog Pound, Civitan Club, Student Government Association, Barn Gospel Choir and Wesley Foundation Leadership Team. She is the International Scholarship recipient to the University of Queensland in Australia and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she is a member of the choir and Youth Leadership Council. During high school, she served as class president, Beta Club president and Delta Gems vice president. She was escorted by her father during this year’s homecoming ceremony.
