The Jefferson Davis Players will present "The Heidi Chronicles" by Wendy Wasserstein as its fall production Oct. 22-25 in the Fine Arts Auditorium at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jefferson Davis Campus. Curtain will be at 8 o’clock each night Oct. 22-24 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. Ryan Pierini, Fine Arts Department chair at the Jefferson Davis Campus, is directing the production.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award, “The Heidi Chronicles” traces the coming of age of Heidi Holland, a successful art historian, as she tries to find her bearings in a rapidly changing world. Gradually distancing herself from her friends, she watches them move from the idealism and political radicalism of their college years through militant feminism and, eventually, back to the materialism that they had sought to reject in the first place. Heidi's own path to maturity involves an affair with the glib, arrogant Scoop Rosenbaum, a womanizing lawyer/publisher who eventually marries for money and position; a deeper but even more troubling relationship with a charming, witty young pediatrician, Peter Patrone; and increasingly disturbing contacts with the other women, now much changed, who were a part of her childhood and college years.
The cast includes Jesse Anderson, Kentrell Brazeal, Aaron Bentz, Shannon Murphy, Maria Penafiel, Alex Ware, Chelsea Beth Higgs and Sean Brunson. Others involved in the production are Brittany Taylor, stage manager; Christine Stansbery, assistant stage manager; Katie Jones, light board; and Charlene McQueen, sound board.
