Outdoor Recreation Leadership Camp to be held at Jackson County Campus
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus will host the annual Outdoor Recreation Leadership Camp on June 11-15 or July 16-20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, at the Estuarine Education Center.The camp, which includes the Ropes course, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, nature study and the climbing wall, is open to participants from 6-12 years old. Field trips to the Scranton Nature Center and Sandhill Crane Refuge are included, and so is an optional overnight camping stay on campus.
Participants are encouraged to wear active-play clothes for hiking, paddling and the ropes course. Campers will also have time to swim, so bring a swimsuit and towel, along with a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and insect repellent.
The cost is $150 and includes lunch and an optional campout dinner. Registration begins May 1. Each camp is limited to 20 participants.
