The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Perkinston Campus Fine Arts Department will present “The Wiz” March 3-6 at the Malone Hall Auditorium on the Perkinston Campus. Show times are at 7 p.m. March 3-5 and at 2 p.m. on March 6.

About “The Wiz”

In this award-winning production, the book, written by William F. Brown, is given a new twist. Dorothy’s adventures in the Land of Oz have been set to music written by Charlie Smalls in a dazzling, lively mixture of rock, gospel and soul music. Even though everyone knows the story, “The Wiz” is a completely new fantasy designed for today and for audiences of all ages.

MGCCC Cast and Crew

Daisha Walker directs the play, with vocal direction from Daniel Vernon and choreography by E Jae James. Parker Bond is the sound technician. The cast includes Oliva Russell as Dorothy; Xiana McGhee as Scarecrow; Chrissy Mitchell as The Wiz; Hadley Batson as Addaperle; Rebecca Courtney as Auntie Em; DaQuan Holloway as Lord High Underling; Ricky Dubisson as Tinman; Candace Easterling as Lion; Erica Ecklar as Evillene; Rebecca Courtney as Glinda; and Logan Byrd as the Gate Keeper.

The Mice include Ayden Lizana, Grace Ann Courtney, Arrah Beth Batson, Zac Gandy, Spencer Smith and Connor Smith. The Crows are Shelby Morlon, Brynna Reeves, Nora Courtney, Ava Strickland, Garrett Huckabay, Neil Cheatum, Dixie Cripps and Madison Marin.  The Winkies are Shelby Morlon, Brynna Reeves, Ava Strickland, Garrett Huckabay, Jessalyn Cain, Aidan Boone and Jack Mckay.  Emerald City residents are Neal Cheatum, Lauren McKay, Anna Cate Clark, Jack McKay, Garrett Huckaby and Dixie Cripps.  The Munchkins include Grace Ann Courtney, Ayden Lizana, Cela Strickland, Arrah Beth Batson, Lee Cain, Katharine Spacht, Anna Kate Beech, Madison Marin, Summer Marin, Lauren McKay, Zac Gandy, Spencer Smith, Connor Smith and Anna Cate Clark.
