It's very rare that you'll see Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College athletic director Ladd Taylor not on the phone or busy typing out an e-mail or text message. Such is the life of a modern-day college administrator.
As Taylor enters his third season as the Bulldogs' athletic director, he continues to stay a step ahead of the constantly-changing world that is community/junior college athletics while at the same keeping the Gulf Coast athletic mantra of "I.C.E" (Integrity, Class, and Enthusiasm).
"We strive year after year to maintain our status as a world-class athletic program," Taylor said. "It's an exciting time right now for our teams at Gulf Coast." Taylor attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, played football for the Bulldogs and has worked at Gulf Coast's Perkinston Campus since 2002.
"I played at Gulf Coast from 1993-94 under head coach J.C. Arban and it was a great experience for me," Taylor said. "That's where my pride in Gulf Coast was established and every time I go to an athletic event that sense of pride is still there."
Taylor's held several different positions while at Gulf Coast, including student activities supervisor (2002-2006), Hayden Hall dormitory supervisor (2003-07), and Perkinston Campus director of Admissions and Records.
Since he became athletic director in 2008, Taylor has overseen the installation of the synthetic football turf at A.L May Memorial Stadium, the construction and dedication of an indoor baseball/softball practice facility in 2009 and the college's new weight room, which is scheduled for completion in 2011.
