Web Dev. Concepts

Course Description

Introduce the Internet and its uses in the world of business.  It includes basic and advanced features of the Internet, World Wide Web, browsers, and creating web pages.  Upon completion of this course, students will be able to send e-mail messages, download files using a browser and an FTP program, and create a web page using HTML and post it on the Internet.

CIW ASSOCIATE CERTIFICATION

This course prepares students for the CIW Foundations exam (IDO-410). 
Upon successful completion of the Foundations exam, the candidate will obtain CIW Associate Certification.

Objectives   

  1. Present an overview of the Internet
  2. Browse the World Wide Web
  3. Use FTP, Newsgroups and Telnet
  4. Send electronic mail
  5. Demonstrate plug-ins and viewers
  6. Utilize search engines
  7. Download files off the Internet
  8. Discuss security on the Internet
  9. Explore E-Commerce
  10. Discuss web page authoring
  11. Explain Hypertext Markup Language
  12. Explain HTML Coding
  13. Demonstrate graphical elements
  14. Describe HTML hyperlinks
  15. Explain HTML tables
  16. Discuss forms
  17. Evaluate HTML image techniques
  18. Explore HTML frames
  19. Demonstrate web site publishing
  20. Explain web page layout and elements
  21. Discuss navigation concepts
  22. Explore the standards organizations
  23. Explain metadata
