 Choosing a Topic...

What is your research topic? Getting started is often the hardest part of the research process. Sometimes, choosing a research topic is difficult. Instructors may assign a topic or the choice may be all yours.

Where can you get ideas? Your hobbies and other interests are good starting points for ideas. It's important to be interested in your topic as research papers are time consuming and a valuable part of your education.

Current periodicals may be a source of identifying a research topic. Look through recent issues of journals and magazines in any of the three MGCCC Campus Libraries.

Browse the special feature Key Issues and Today's Science Hot Topics sections of the electronic resource, Facts.com, accessible from the library's home page,.

The CQ Researcher in the reference section (REF H35 .E35) and online is a collection of reports providing background information on current topics. Not only is the CQ Researcher a great place to get an idea for you research but a great source for beginning your research.
