Looking for Literary Criticism...

The MGCCC Libraries contain many resources that are concerned with the description, analysis, comparison, and evaluation of the works of literature. Literary criticism can be found both in books and in periodicals and is available for prose, poetry, or drama. Other terms sometimes used for criticism are "explication" and "critique."

Many books which contain critical material about a specific author or work are on RESERVE at the Circulation Desk. Inquire at the Reference Desk or at the Circulation Desk for these materials. When looking for a book in the online catalog, search by author's name. Most works by the author as well as criticisms of the authors are located together on the shelves.

In addition to individual books that can be checked out and to those on Reserve, the library owns many reference books which contain summaries of critical material as well as indexes to critical material. They are located in the Reference Section of the library. Some of these are listed below: Library of Congress call numbers are in parenthesis following the title.

  GALE LITERARY CRITICISM SERIES

The Gale Research Company publishes several different series of literary criticism covering authors from antiquity through the present.
