Magnolia Project...
MAGNOLIA (Mississippi Alliance for Gaining New Opportunities Through Library Information Access) is a statewide consortium funded by the Mississippi Legislature and providing online databases for publicly funded K-12 schools, public libraries, community college libraries, and university libraries in Mississippi. More information on the project is available at the Magnolia home page.
Password and Logon information is available at any of the three Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Libraries' circulation desks. Instructions for searching the Magnolia databases are contained within each of the individual databases.
Contemporary Literary Criticism Select - Provides access to an extensive collection of critical essays on contemporary writers.
Discovering Authors - Provides bio-bibliographical information and criticism on 1260 of the most studied novelists, poets and dramatists.
Exploring Poetry - Provides information on 200 of the most frequently studied poems. Images, themes,and construction of each poem are discussed in addition to a line by line explanation.
The MGCCC libraries now subscribe to Gale's Literature Resource Center. This complete reference database provides detailed information on more than 2,000 of the most studied authors. See your librarians for UserName and password.
Wilson Biographies - Provides access to more than 38,000 full-text profiles that provide in depth information on each subject's life and career.
Books in Print with Review - Provides information on books in and out of print. The database contains over 1.9 million titles with full-txt book reviews.
General Business File - Provides access to the world's leading business, industry, management, economics, investment, and company information.
PROMPTTM- Provides access to a multi-industry database for business research applications with comprehensive, international coverage of companies, products, markets, and technologies.
InfoUSA - Provides information about 10.5 million US businesses. Remote access is not available for this database.
SIRS Researcher - Provides access to thousands of full-text articles exploring social, scientific, health, historic, economic, business, political and global issues. Remote access is not available for this database.
Academic Search Full Text Elite - Provides full text for over 1,000 journals and abstracts and indexing for over 3000 scholarly journals. Academic areas include social sciences, humanities, education, general science, and general reference.
MasterFile Full Text 1,500 - Accesses a broad range of topics including general interest, business, health and multicultural studies.
Business Source EliteTM- Covers international business, economics, management, operations, finance, accounting and labor.
Newspaper Source - Provides abstracts and indexing for the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor (only one full text), USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post.
MAS Full Text Premier- Accesses full text of over 200 general interest magazines and thousands of Magill Book Reviews.
Health Source PlusTM- Provides answers to health-related questions in general health magazines, professional health care journals, and health pamphlets.
Eric-Accesses information from journals included in the Current Index, Journals in Education, and Resources in Education Index.
Middle Search PlusTM- Provides a database for middle and junior high school students.
Primary SearchTM- Provides a database designed for elementary schools and children's reading rooms.
The Serials Directory - Provides up-to-date bibliographic information and pricing for over 155,000 US and international periodicals.
EBSCO Animals - Provides in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The database consists of indexes, abstracts, and full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals.
Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia - Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries.
Clinical Reference Systems - Provides over 7,000 reports in every day language, describing symptoms, treatments, risks and aftereffects of a vast array of medical topics and conditions.
USP DI Volume II, Advice for the Patient - Provides patient oriented drug information in lay language. Information is available on commonly used brand names with descriptions, proper use of medication, precautions, and side effects.
Ethnic NewsWatch - Provides a rich collection of articles, editorials and reviews with a broad diversity of perspectives from newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic and minority press.
