ACADEMIC SKILLS

Associate Degree Nursing is a challenging applied science with a demanding curriculum. Interested students should possess strong overall academic skills and a strong science and math background. Academic skills that will be particularly helpful to you throughout the nursing program are as follows:

  • Thorough recall and understanding of Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Strong college-level reading comprehension skills.
  • Well-developed college writing, grammar, speaking and listening skills.
  • Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions and decimals) and ratio and proportion.
  • Test-taking skills (especially multiple choice tests).
  • Organized study skills and effective note-taking.
  • Critical thinking and reasoning skills.
