Honoring Those Who Have Made an Impact

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will hold its annual Spring Reception on April 5, at the Hospitality and Resort Management Center in Biloxi in honor of the 2018 L. N. Dantzler Difference Maker Award recipients. Each year since 2003, four employees have been recognized with this award for demonstrating an exceptional work ethic, a deep sense of college and community involvement, and a tremendous commitment to students.

This year’s Difference Makers are:

  • Angela Bradley, Jefferson Davis Campus
  • LaTrice McDonald, Perkinston Campus
  • Dr. Joan Hendrix, District Office.

Duane Munoz
Groundskeeper
Jackson County Campus

Duane Munoz has worked at the college for 26 years. He is a groundskeeper at the Jackson County Campus. A longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross, Munoz likes to help others in the community and on campus. Each October he can be found at the college’s Perkinston Campus helping with set-up for Homecoming week activities and the football game.

Angela Bradley
Director of Financial Aid
Jefferson Davis Campus

Angela Bradley has worked at MGCCC since 2014.  Her husband, Dr. Cedric Bradley, is dean of Instruction at the Jackson County Campus. Her sons, Caleb, 11, and Sean, 9, appeared in MGCCC’s Holiday video this past December. Always striving to help students complete the often-arduous financial aid process, Bradley said her team practices the motto “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

LaTrice McDonald
Admissions Specialist
Perkinston Campus

LaTrice McDonald is an admissions specialist at the Perkinston Campus. She has worked at the college since 2001, when she started working part-time at the Learning Resources Center. Later, she began working at the Perkinston Campus full-time in 2005. She is an MGCCC alumna and has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Gerontology from William Carey University.

Dr. Joan Hendrix
Dean of Health Sciences
District Office

Dr. Joan Hendrix, dean of Health Sciences at new Nursing and Simulation Center at Tradition, has been working at MGCCC for 16 years. A native of Mobile, Hendrix received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Mobile College, a master’s degree from the University of Mobile and her doctorate from Samford University. Her son, Jay, is an MGCCC alumni, completing his studies completely online as a dual-enrolled student.
