Band of Gold kicks off 2015-2016 season

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Band of Gold can always be counted on for high-energy halftime shows with crowd-pleasing musical offerings and outstanding performances.  The 2015-2016 year will be no different as the band will perform at both football and basketball games as well as participate in many other local and college-affiliated events including the Homecoming parade and Festival of Lights celebration.

Including the flag corps, the marching band has nearly 200 members.  Band members also participate in the concert band and several ensembles – like the jazz band, and brass and woodwind ensembles – and the drum corps.

Host of the annual Gold Medal Classic that attracts high school bands from all over Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana each fall, the Band of Gold has a rich tradition of community service on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and a commitment to providing instructional excellence in music education for MGCCC students.

Dell Trotter is the director of bands, and leads the band with assistant band directors Heather McDonald and Sean Keady.
