Jefferson Davis Camps


Baby & Me Swim Lessons

(Ages 6 months to 4 years) – 06/05/2017 – 06/29/2017
Swimming Camp is based on classes meeting Monday through Thursday with Friday being make-up days in case of inclement weather. The classes will involve the instructor guiding the parent/guardian in assisting their own child. The Baby & Me Aquatics is for 6 month to 4 years. Wear a swimsuit, and bring a towel and sunscreen. The class will meet at the pool near the Gymnasium on the west/right side of the campus.

Learn to Swim

(Ages: 5 and up)  – 06/05/2017 – 06/15/2017 and 06/19/2017 – 06/29/2017

The classes will consist of approximately 7 children per coach age 5-up. (The Baby & Me Aquatics is for 6 month to 4 years.) Wear a swimsuit, and bring a towel and sunscreen. The class will meet at the pool near the Gymnasium on the west/right side of the campus.

Basic Robotics & Technology

(Ages 11-14) – 06/05/2017 – 06/09/2017

This year’s camp is going to allow children to design and build a robot, then compete against other robots as part of a team. We will teach your child how to build and use machines in the form of robots. They are going to get to work with VEX robots and meet and learn from a high school FIRST robotics team. The camp will teach in part leadership and teamwork skills as well as the basics of mechanics in robotics.

Intermediate Robotics & Technology

(Ages 12-17) – 06/12/2017 – 06/16/2017

Thank you for your interest in our Intermediate Robotics Camp. This is an interactive camp geared toward building robots & working with computer programs. It is designed for those who have already completed the Basic Robotics camp. A fun competition will be held among the campers using the robots they create. The camp will teach leadership and teamwork skills as well as the basics of computer programing for robotics.

Cooking Culinary Camp 

(Ages 9-13) – 06/05/2017 – 06/09/2017
An interactive hosted by professional chefs that will feature basic cooking skills both on the savory and sweet side of things. Class meets at the HRM building on the far east/left side of the JD campus. All camp supplies will be provided. Wear comfortable clothes to move around in. Lunch and snack will be provided.

Outdoor Adventure Camp

June 5-9, 2017 • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. • $205

A fun and challenging week of outdoor adventures for ages 13-15. All participants must be competent swimmers and comfortable in and on the water (pool, bayou, river, and ocean). Activities include kayaking, swimming, canoeing, hiking, nature walks, field trips, ropes challenge course, and rock-wall climbing.

Robotics Camps

June 19-22, 2017 • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. • $180

An interactive camp building robots and stomp rockets. A fun competition will be held among the campers using the robots they create. For ages 11-14. Registration open through June 16.

Chemistry Camp

Session 1: July 10-14, 2017 • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. • $65
Session 2: July 17-21, 2017 • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. • $65

Make polyurethane foam, slime, plexiglass crystals, fingerprints and more; paint your Chemistry Camp T-shirt; make glue; create colorful designs with paper chromatography; compete in Quiz Bowl and T-shirt design contest; and field trip to First Chemical. For ages 11-14. For Session 1, registration is open until July 7. For Session 2, registration is open until July 14.

Learn to Swim

A fun and instructive course teaching basic swimming skills for children ages 3 to 12. Certified instructors and lifeguards on duty with classes limited to 30 students. Classes meet for 50 minutes each day, Monday through Friday, in two-week sessions at the indoor swimming pool in the Gym.
