The Jefferson Davis Players will present “The Fantasticks” at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jefferson Davis Campus Fine Arts Auditorium April 14-17. Show times are at 8 p.m. April 14-16 and at 2 p.m. on April 17.

About The Fantasticks

“The Fantasticks” by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, two fathers, and a wall. The perfect first musical for any child to see, the show’s narrator, El Gallo, leads the audience into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow apart and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in El Gallo’s words, “Without a hurt, the heart is hollow.”

Ryan Pierini, director and Fine Arts chair at the campus, said, “The longest-running musical in the world, and with good reason, the play is one of breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication with a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time.”
