MGCCC instructor named 2014 Outstanding Career and Office Technology Educator

Courtney DSC_7436 copyLisa Courtney, Career-Tech Department chair at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus and Business and Office Technology instructor, was named the 2014 Outstanding Career and Technical Business Educator by the Mississippi Business Education Association in September.  The MBEA is a professional organization of business educators that began in 1950.  It is affiliated with the Southern Business Education Association and the National Business Education Association.

Courtney has worked at the college since 1977, when she began working part time in the summer as a secretary typing the Perkinston Campus Self-Study for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).  She began working in a full-time capacity at the college in 1985.  She will retire this year.

Kathy McAdams is an award-winning journalist who has worked at weekly newspapers in Mississippi and the Press-Register in Mobile, Ala. A native of Gulfport, McAdams attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, William Carey University, the University of South Alabama and The University of Southern Mississippi. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and journalism and a master's degree in education and English. She has worked at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College since 2005.
