Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Nursing Division will host a site review for continuing accreditation of its Associate Degree Nursing program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) in February. The ACEN accreditation indicates to the general public and to the educational community that a nursing program has clear and appropriate educational objectives and is working to achieve these objectives. Emphasis is placed upon the total nursing program and its compliance with established standards and criteria in the context of its mission and philosophy as well as current and future nursing practice.

The public is invited to attend a meeting and share comments about the MGCCC nursing program on Thursday, Feb. 13, 5:30 – 6 p.m.  at the Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Center, 10298 Express Drive in Gulfport. Written comments are also welcome and should be submitted directly to Dr. Sharon Tanner, chief executive officer, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, Ga., 30326, or e-mail sjtanner@acenursing.org. All written comments should be received by the ACEN no later than Feb. 5, 2014.
