The annual Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 5K Zombie Run will be held on Monday, October 24, at 6 p.m. at A.L. May Memorial Stadium on the Perkinston Campus. Runner check-in begins at 5 p.m. Zombie check in and transformation begins at 4 p.m with the run starting at 6 pm.

The Zombie Run is a 5K with a twist – runners must avoid the zombies lurking throughout the course or risk being infected. Runners this year will receive a finisher medal, runners bib, participation certificate and T-shirt with registration.

Regular registration is $25. For runners 12 and under, registration is $15, and MGCCC student runner registration is $15. Community zombie participant registration is $15 (Zombie make-up applied by MGCCC Theatre Students, and includes a zombie themed goodie bag) and MGCCC student zombie participant registration is $5 (with make-up applied by theatre students). Zombie T-shirts are $10.  New this year is the virtual runner registration ($25).

“Virtual Runner category allows those who cannot make it to the run to complete the race at their own location and at their own pace,” said Missy Belcher, Residence Hall Supervisor at the Perkinston Campus. “Once they have completed the run, they can take a photo of themselves with their medal, etc. and post it to our Facebook page at MGCCC Zombie Run.

Proceeds will benefit the MGCCC Residence Hall Scholarship Fund, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation and Residence Hall Association and National Residence Hall Honorary.
