The Fine Arts Department at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus will present the award winning musical “Annie” Feb. 13-16 in Malone Hall Auditorium.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus Fine Arts Department will present “Annie” Feb. 13-16 in the Malone Hall Auditorium. Curtain times Feb. 13-15 are at 7 p.m. and on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.

“Annie” is based on the popular Harold Gray comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie,” with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the book by Thomas Meehan. The original Broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years, setting a record and winning the Tony Award for Best Musical. In the musical, the little orphan, Annie, is determined to find her parents with optimism and pluck in the middle of the Depression. Instead she finds a kindred spirit in Oliver Warbucks, and together they form a family of their own. The musical’s songs “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard-Knock Life” are among its most popular musical numbers.

Cast members include Hadley Batson as Annie, Dean Belton as Warbucks, Lauren Roosa-Wise as Grace, Rebecca Courtney as Lilly, Cody Breland as Rooster, Daisha Walker as Ms. Hannigan, Derek Havard as FDR and Taylor Manser as Bert Healy. The orphans are Nora Courtney, Lauren McKay, Hayley Gunter, Tyanne Hatten, Katharine Spacht, Grace Ann Courtney, Bethany Bullen, Lauren Bullen, Makayla Gunter, Ellen Overstreet, Anna Cate Clark, Jessalyn Cain, Madison Marin, Madeline Stephens, Arabeth Batson, Anna Kate Beech, Michelle Williams and Sophie Elliott. Other cast members include Abishia Slaton, Mason Smith, Rick LoPiccolo, Reanna Carter, Ciara Fountain, Alexis Battaglio, Madison Bullen, Tom Matthews, Robyn Ramsey, Shalante Evans, Aimee Ruth Causey, Katherine Matthews, Jaden Breland, Aaron Staura, McKenna Carter, Allante Evans, Keundrea Gray, Jasmyn Crear, Jack McKee and Jennifer Bond. Crew members are Daisha Walker, director; Taylor Richey, choreographer; Derek Havard, vocal director; and Robert Barrett, set design.

Tickets for adults are $10 and $5 for children and students. All proceeds from tickets sales will go to support the Yellow Barn Community Arts Center.
