ANSWER Come by the Veterans Affairs Office on the MGCCC campus you will be attending to complete the required forms needed or review forms needed online at Applying for Benefits that are required to initiate your benefits. A VA representative is available on each campus to answer any questions you may have.
QUESTION I am adding/dropping classes and this will change my enrollment status that I filled out on the Veteran’s Certification form. What should I do?
ANSWER All changes to your class schedule and/or contact information must always be reported to the campus VA office. Changes to class schedules require students to fill out a new certification form and indicating “Schedule Change”.
QUESTION When can I apply for VA Benefits at MGCCC?
ANSWER As soon as you decide that you are interested in attending college complete the GI Bill application at www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/. The sooner the better! Be sure to bring a copy of your DD 214 for active duty veterans, a NOBE for Reserve and National Guard applicants, a Certificate of Eligibility Letter once approved by the VA, a copy of your semester schedule and a copy of the curriculum required for your major. If you have additional questions contact the MGCCC VA Office on the campus you will attend.

QUESTION My prior school won’t release my transcript. Can I still get VA education benefits at MGCCC without my transcript?
ANSWER No, the VA requires that an institution have ALL official transcripts before the school can verify your enrollment to the VA. If you cannot get your transcript from your prior school, you should contact the prior school and resolve the reason they are holding your transcript. You will not be able to receive VA benefits at MGCCC until the official transcript is on file.
QUESTION Can I receive Financial Aid and VA benefits at the same time?
ANSWER Yes, veterans may be eligible for Financial Aid as well as VA Benefits. All students encouraged to apply for Financial Aid to help with education costs. You can apply for Financial Aid on the www.fafsa.ed.gov website. However, veteran students receiving a scholarship should see a VA Certifying Official to verify the effects it may have on their benefits.
